Guest guest
The circus doesn't show any signs of abuse either, but look at it behind the scenes. I'm not saying there is in this show, but who knows. I have had horses all my life and always had a conflict with riding them and I always rode English (the saddle is lighter) or bareback, I have now come to the conclusion that if I was to have another horse, I would just take care of her/him and take her/him for walks on the halter. I think any training of an animal for (our) pleasure and to make money off of is exploitation. Can you imagine how those horses are transported all over the states and maybe beyond? That is not natural for them. They need to be out in a pasture in herds grazing, not performing "tricks" for the public.
Guest guest
I attended Cavalia 2 weeks ago. I didn't observe any violent acts or punishment. Some of the horses clearly didn't do what they were supposed to according to the " act " and the trainer let them take their time or just didn't worry about them at all. The act was lying down, by the way, which my horse used to do quite often. Most of the show consists of horses just running around, half the time without any people on them. I have been riding horses for 9 years, specifically doing dressage, which is incorporated in the show, so I understand what the horses & riders are performing. I don't consider dressage, done correctly, to be animal exploitation, but that is my opinion. I don't know what they did with the horses behind the scenes. Since there weren't any signs of abuse or neglect in the show, the only animal rights reason I can see to not attend is your own definition of animal exploitation. As far as adopting a companion animal, you must make the decision for that animal: would they rather die in the shelter or live out an " unnatural " life with a human? ===== L. E. F.
