Hi folks,

 

I know there are many worthy non-profit organizations doing wonderful work for the animals. Often these other organizations have fundraisers or educational events, and as long as the food being served at these events is vegetarian, then it's okay to post it to SFBAVEG.

 

But, if the food at the event is not vegetarian (i.e. they are serving meat), then it is not appropriate to post to SFBAVEG. If you aren't sure whether the event is vegetarian, please double-check before posting. If you are posting an event notice for another group's event, please be sure to specify that any food is vegetarian or vegan.

 

As a FYI, the recently posted Sea Turtle Restoration Project reception is serving meat.

 

On a related side note, Animal Place has launched Food for Thought: Adopting an Animal-Friendly Menu, a campaign to encourage SPCAs and humane societies to become consistent in their compassion and behavior toward all species.
