Market will celebrate a GRAND OPENING at its new location, Shattuck Avenue at

Rose Street with special guests Chef Alice Waters and Mayor Tom Bates. This

Market will feature all organically grown produce.Cost: Free (as always)Who Should Attend: Open to the PublicWhen/Where: Thursday, August 26th; 3:00pm to 7:00pm. (And continuing every Thursday thereafter from 3-7pm at the same location.) Local small farms selling fresh, organic fruits and vegetables directly to

the public in Berkeley's vibrant North Shattuck Avenue neighborhood, home to many

world famous restaurants. Also many wonderful prepared foods will be for sale.

3:00pm - Mayor Tom Bates officially welcomes us to our new site. 3:15pm - Alice Waters, internationally acclaimed chef, bestselling cookbook author, and guiding light of Chez Panisse Restaurant, welcomes us to the neighborhood and celebrates our ongoing commitment to sustainable agriculture and the highest quality fresh, seasonal produce. 5:00pm - Cooking Demonstration by Cal Peternell, Chez Panisse Café Chef. Jazz (the rest of the time) by the Robert Keller Group. About Berkeley Farmers' Markets: A program of the Ecology Center since 1987, the Berkeley Farmers' Markets (on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays) offer a wide range of mostly organic seasonal produce and healthy, locally-produced foods. Together with educational events, cooking demonstrations and live music, these award-winning markets serve as friendly meeting places for the members of our diverse and vibrant community. The Berkeley Farmers' Market in March 2002 (along with only two other farmers' markets) was on Gourmet Magazine's list of "100+ Great Things" in the Bay Area and in 2000 was chosen by Sunset Magazine as one of its seven favorite farmers' markets in all of Northern California.
