Dear Animal Activists, Companions, Vigilers, Lovers and Liberators -

 

For some reason or another, vigil-protests are catching on. Hope you can make it to one of the upcoming ones:

 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 4th, 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM, CANDLELIGHT VIGIL, UC DAVIS: Jeremy Betham - intrepid activist who has traveled across the country over the last eight weeks protesting/raising awareness regarding the experimentation/breeding of nonhuman primates for the research industry - will be joined by Vigil for Animals, In Defense of Animals, and other activists at the Primate Research Center at UC Davis, at One Shields Avenue in Davis. FYI, UC Davis supplies UCSF (my favorite vigil spot) with most of its nonhuman primates. For those activists who have a special place in their heart for canine companions, this is also your opportunity to meet Tulane, the wonderful dog that Jeremy rescued from abuse and neglect while on tour.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 5th, 5 PM - 7 PM, VIGIL-PROTEST AT UCSF, 513 PARNASSUS AVENUE, SAN FRANCISCO: Join Michael Budkie of Stop Animal Exploitation Now (SAEN), In Defense of Animals, Vigil for Animals and others to call attention to - with the hope of stopping someday - the insanity of (ab)use of animals in experiments at UCSF. For public transportation to UCSF, please see below.

NOTE: There also will be a press conference (hosted by Michael Budkie, of SAEN) at UCSF earlier in the day (around 10 AM) of August 5 - more details to be sent later.

 

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st, 7 PM - 8 PM, UC BERKELEY VIGIL: Above the underground lab, known as the Northwest Animal Facility, Corner of Oxford Street & Berkeley Way. Info: East Bay Animal Advocates, 925-487-4419 or info.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO UCSF: UCSF is located at 513 Parnassus Avenue in San Francisco, easily reached by the 6-Parnassus bus or 43-Masonic bus, both of which stop in front of UCSF on Parnassus Avenue; or the N Judah streetcar (from East Bay, connects with BART at Civic Center, San Francisco) - exit streetcar at Arguello, enter UCSF via entrance on Arguello and take elevator up to Parnassus Avenue, or walk back one block and walk up the hill to Parnassus).
