Guest guest
Update: the owner contacted me and would like to offer us a special multi course dinner that she says has been very appreciated by diners. It will be at a cost of $12.80 including tax and tip. I need a final head count for her by Friday the 30th so please send your RSVP's to my email address by 5PM on Friday. This could be the start of another monthly Bay Area Vegetarians dinner in the East Bay! Join old friends and acquaintances, make new friends, or just eat and keep to yourself if you prefer! All are welcome--singles, couples, adults, children, all ages, backgrounds and food preferences. However, all the food is vegan, and deliciously so. Drop ins are free to attend without the guarantee of sitting at the group's table(s) or of being served the special priced meal. Sunday August 1, 2004 @ 6PM Mother Nature Vegetarian Cuisine 843 San Pablo Ave. (near Solano Ave.) Albany, CA 94706 (510) 528-5388 20 minute easy walk from El Cerrito Plaza BART AC Transit # 43 from Berkeley stops a block away Longtime vegetarian mainstay Ambrosia Garden in Albany closed recently as the owners decided it was time to retire. In its place is Mother Nature Vegetarian Cuisine, a completely vegan Chinese and Malaysian restaurant at the same location and same phone number. The owners are Malaysian cousins, several women with many years of experience cooking and serving vegan meals. They use no GMO ingredients, no MSG, and no canned food. As Buddhists, they also cook without the use of garlic or onion, and sadly for those who enjoy a cold beer with a spicy dish, do not serve alcoholic beverages. Brown rice is available. Cash and credit cards--no checks. Entrees range from $6.25 to $12.50, with most dishes in the middle range. The Pine Nut and Seaweed Fried Rice, Mushroom Rollover, House Salad, and Stringbean and Gluten Puff in Bean Sauce were particularly good--nice flavors, colors, and presentation. The owners are friendly, knowledgable about vegan dining, and eager to introduce themselves to the vegetarian community. Look forward to seeing new faces as well as those who have attended the Third Sunday of the month New World Vegetarian Restaurant dinners, which is now heading towards its one year anniversary in August.
