Hi,

I am planning to have a party for my co-workers, about 25-30

people, at the end of this month. I simply love Ethiopian food and want

my co-workers to experience some of it. I was thinking of 3-4

Ethiopian vegetarian entrees and injera for my guests. It

would be nice to get some recommendations/ideas from you

all, about specific restaurants, caterers etc, for a reasonable

price. I live in San Mateo, but I am willing to pick up the food within

a reasonable driving distance, Berkeley/Oakland included.

Thanks,

Nadu

Ethiopian food is my absolute favorite of all time. My suggestion is

Cafe Colucci on Oakland/Berkely border. It is on the corner of Alcatraz

and Telegraph Ave. It is about the only place I go out to eat anymore!

Not only do they have the best food around, but they have assured me on

many occasions that the vegetarian food is not cooked with the

traditional spiced Ethiopian butter (kind of like ghee). They use olive

oil for the veg food! Most other places do not do this.

Anyway, my suggestions would be:

1. Mitten Shuro (also called just shuro)

2. Messer Wat

3. Buticha (the fava bean dish)

4. Gomen (collard greens)

5. Azifa (lentil mustard dish)

Basically, everything is great! The veg combo + mitten shuro is da bomb!

Hope this helps,

Erika
