Friends,

We just wanted to let you know that the bill to allow the sale of kangaroo skins in the state of California has failed in the Senate Natural Resources Committee.

Although the bill failed, everyone should know this was a tough one and we thank you so very much for all of your help and support.

A number of Senators were lobbied very hard by Assembly Member Firebaugh, his aides and the lobbyist for Adidas. They were lobbied even after they voted and were strongly encouraged to change their votes: They did not. These Senators include: Torlakson & Ortiz.

We are asking everyone to please MAIL (through the post) a thank you card to them as well as to Kuehl, Bowen and Sher. If you cannot hand write and send a card, please do not do anything. We want this to be something that is appreciated not something that gives them more work (please, no faxes, calls or e-mails).

We were told by one of the Senators that we directly affected their vote and received compliments on how we handled this issue. We thank everyone for that.

The Votes.

Please address your letter(s) to:The Honorable [full name of Senator]California State SenateState CapitolSacramento, CA 95814

*Please do send them a card.

This is the third bill that has been introduced in the past year to change the law regarding the protection of kangaroos in California. We have won it yet again.

Thank you for helping us keep California law intact and do what we can as Californians to protect the kangaroos.
