Guest guest
Longtime vegetarian mainstay Ambrosia Garden in Albany closed recently as the owners decided it was time to retire. In its place, open only three days now, is Mother Nature Vegetarian Cuisine, a completely vegan Chinese and Malaysian restaurant at the same location and same phone number. The owners are Malaysian cousins, several women with many years of experience cooking and serving vegan meals. They use no GMO ingredients, no MSG, and no canned food. As Buddhists, they also cook without the use of garlic or onion, and sadly for those who enjoy a cold beer with a spicy dish, do not serve alcoholic beverages. Brown rice is available. (add to your list, Michael E.) Lunch and dinner is served. I forgot to ask if they are open seven days a week, but I believe they are open from about 11:00 AM until 9:30PM. Cash and credit cards--no checks. Entrees range from $6.25 to $12.50, with most dishes in the middle range. Our party of five paid under $15 each including tax and tip, and were satisfied and satiated upon leaving. The Pine Nut and Seaweed Fried Rice, Mushroom Rollover, House Salad, and Stringbean and Gluten Puff in Bean Sauce were particularly good--nice flavors, colors, and presentation. The owners are friendly, knowledgable about vegan dining, and eager to introduce themselves to the vegetarian community.
