An opportunity to share food & conversation with like-minded folks, also a great place to experiment with new vegan recipes (this type of 'animal testing' is vegan-approved!) http://www.bayareaveg.org/vfpdetails.htm You can browse the photo gallery on our website to see pics from the previous two years...http://www.bayareaveg.org/gallery/sandandsurf03http://www.bayareaveg.org/gallery/sandandsurf02 Additionally, as many of you know, Mike and Joanna are leading a hike on Montara Mountain at 9:45 am. It's very scenic withdramatic views of the Pacific. And what a great way to work up an appetite for sharing vegan food! Please contact Mike at mike ... (Tammy recently fractured a bone in my foot so we'll have to miss the hike...) So came enjoy vegan food, fellowship and fun in Montara, a beautiful community just south of San Francisco... Additionally, for folks who would like to learn more about BAV and our activities, or have ideas for BAV activities, please come and talk to me. We look forward to celebrating the joys and independence of a compassionate and cruelty-free diet with all of you! Cheers, Tammy & Chris Chris and I are hosting the 3rd annual Sand-n-Surf picnic at Montara State Beach. This is a beautiful beach just south of San Francisco. It'll begood fun and a great opportunity to establish or renew old and new friendships. While all food is vegan, the people don't need to be. Please bring your veg/non-veg family and friends and let them share some yummy vegan food. Just remember that every person attending should contribute a vegan food dish that can provide 6 servings (two people bring a dish with 12 servings, and so forth, is fine). Please remember to also bring an autographed copy of your recipe, everything you will need to eat and serve your dish with, and (optional) a blanket or chair to sit on. If you're new to Vegan Food Parties, please review our VFP guidelines athttp://www.bayareaveg.org/vfpdetails.htm RSVP: Chris and I will bring drinks, so if you're planning to attend, drop us an email so we can plan accordingly (as well as for table space to holdfood, etc). I've already had a few folks mention that they will be joining us so I'm anticipating another lively event this year :-) RSVPs to:events Help: 1) if anyone has an extra card table that they can bring, please let me know! 2) If anyone can join us about 15 minutes earlier and help us get stuff set-up, that would be great! We will have a shade canopy, tables, etc. Chris' Driving Directions=========================Traffic to the coast will be busy that day especially along Hwy 92 into Half Moon Bay. Please plan accordingly and leave early to allow extratime for traffic. I would strongly advise people come in from Pacifica along Hwy 1. Even if you're coming from the South Bay. I commute from Montara to Cupertino and the distance is only a few extra miles but much much quicker due to having multiple lanes and higherspeed limits in each direction compared to Hwy 92. Route I'd take from the South Bay - 280 NorthExit Skyline (Hwy 35)LEFT on Sharp ParkCrossover/merge onto Hwy 1 in Pacifica heading south toward Half Moon Bay. Montara is approx. 7 miles South of this point. Montara is thefirst town after Devils Slide. Park close to restaurant and use the steps behind it to the beach. Same goes for those coming from San Francisco or the East Bay. Don't fall for Hwy 92 however tempted. Remember Hwy 1 via Pacifica is your friend, Hwy 92 BAD. Trust me At the beach==========Use the stairs behind the 'Outrigger' restaurant and look for a sun canopy with a banner that says 'Bay Area Vegetarians' surrounded by a boisterous group of eating and laughing people.
