Guest guest
>Quiznos gets the big " Thumbs Down! " Guess - it's time for Togos - which, >from memory, have at least 3-4 veg sandwiches. I agree that the low-carb mania has been a big setback for vegan eating. The worst offenders are places where they will be happy to leave off the cheese and sour cream but they will still charge the same price and not add a little of anything else. I always make it clear to whoever is the most senior person there at the time that this is totally unacceptable and let them know I will not be back... And then I don't. The worst example is a burrito shop in berkeley where the cashier told me my request was certainly reasonable but " the computer won't do that " -- when I proposed simply writing a little notation on the printout to give the cooks, she said she couldn't do that. How Stupid. And they raised their prices so I won't be going back there. However it's not all bad with Quiznos. I used to frequent the downtown San Mateo Quiznos and always ordered my veggie sandwich (on wheat) no cheese, but extra guacamole instead. The staff always obligingly piled on a huge dollop of guacamole and with a few extra pickles and peppercinis you have an enormous meal. Then, they jacked up their prices. I asked the manager why my sandwich suddenly cost more and he said, " the prices went up. " Now, whenever I see prices go up I boycott a store -- because otherwise you're playing right into the government's continual desire to devalue the currency with inflation. but eventually my apetite got the best of e and I showed up there 4 weeks later. The manager said, " you're back! " and I said, yeah but just this once because you raised your prices. The manager then told me he didn't want to lose a good customer and commanded his staff to give me a 10% discount from then on. Unfortunately I no longer work in San Mateo so the guacamole fun is over now. DG
