Guest guest
Hi folks! For those of you who missed the Summer Pignic at Animal Place, a benefit for Viva!USA held earlier this month, I just wanted to let you know that Animal Place is holding additional events at their sanctuary in Vacaville. Animal Place is a sanctuary for rescued and/or abandoned animals, mostly farmed animals. They are about an hour's drive from San Francisco. You can find the event listing on their website at http://www.animalplace.org Or directly on this page http://www.animalplace.org/ap_open_house_events.html They have a special tour for kids (ages 5-12) on July 10th. The folks at Animal Place are really great. It is just awesome to be able to see and connect with the animals. I met the sweetest baby pigs (they have thin straight little tails that wag so quickly!).. and the friendliest little goat, Sebastian; he just loves to be scratched under the chin. Animal Place is smaller than Farm Sanctuary, another wonderful sanctuary for animals in Orland, CA (further north) and New York. Farm Sanctuary is also open for tours. Their website is http://www.farmsanctuary.org I didn't see a particular schedule but saw that it said "Visit the California shelter, located in Orland, and meet loving animals rescued from abuse and neglect situations. Guided tours are held on Saturdays, every hour on the hour, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. from April 1 through November 30." They are also having a 4th of July event -- "Enjoy a vegetarian hot dog and give a pig a belly rub at our annual July 4th Pignic! The event is free and open to the public. Tours will be given every hour on the hour from 11a.m. until 3 p.m. at both shelters. Don't miss this special day of shelter tours, food and fun for everyone!" Anyways, just wanted to let you know about the tours that are happening. It's great that these sanctuaries for the animals exist! It's also a wonderful opportunity for us to introduce our non-veg families & friends to one of the best reasons to go vegan... for the animals! Cheers, Tammy Perform a death-defying act...
