Guest guest
What: Bay Area Vegetarians at SF Pride When: June 26-27 Why: Plant the seeds of compassion and good health with local attendees, and visitors from around the world!! Public transit: yes! BART-Civic Center station or Muni Hi folks, Earlier this year, we made an appeal to the veg community to help Bay Area Vegetarians bring our message of veganism and factory farming to SF Pride, one of the Bay Area's largest events (hundreds of thousands of people attend from all over the world). Thanks to the generous financial support of several individuals, BAV will be at Pride on 6/27-27!! If you're new to our group, I've included some links at the bottom that will give you the background info about BAV involvement with Pride. In a nutshell, this was an awesome event to table at in 2003; the info was literally gobbled up, and we're really looking forward to 2004. At this time, we are now looking for passionate, outgoing and persuasive folks who can help in the following ways: - donate your time at the booth on June 26 & 27. all our volunteers last year had a blast!- we need help with photocopying / printing (for handouts at the event)- set-up, take-down on both days- vegan snacks -- bring the volunteers treats during the day! Staffing the outreach table: Please let me know what your knowledge/comfort level is with factory farming and veganism. This is important so we can get the right knowledge mix at the booth at all times. If you are new to tabling, we will be tabling at two smaller events in June; perhaps you can join us at one of those as an introductory experience. Would also like folks who are willing to stand outside the booth and/or wear a costume and distribute information. Time slots will be in 4 hour shifts on both days. Please let me know if you have any time preferences or if you can be flexible (which is greatly appreciated). I would recommend Saturday (the quieter day) for folks who are new to tabling or just don't want the craziness of Sunday (when the Parade happens). Photocopying/printing: We have some handouts we'd like to distribute, so if you can help us with getting it photocopied for free or cheap, that'd be great! Set-up, Take-down Set-up is good for someone who likes early morning activities. Chris and I are there for the set-up and take down on both days. But having help makes it go quicker and is just more sociable. Vegan Snacks -- bring the volunteers treats during the day! If you're not comfortable doing outreach, but want to help and support us, the last 3 areas are great opportunities to get involved. Here are some related links for more info about BAV at SF Pride ... let's show our VegPride!! Well, now is the time to email with your time availability. Please, if you have the flexibility, let me know as that will make staffing all the easier. I will reply to all emails personally. As a free membership organization, Bay Area Vegetarians relies entirely upon the generosity of our volunteers and supporters. Thank you all for what you do, and for helping us plant the seeds of compassion and good health in our community.
