Guest guest
Hi everyone! I'm organizing a hike this Sunday to The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. This is about 6 miles south of Santa Cruz off Hwy 1. Here's a link to the park:http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=666My hiking guide describes it as such:"...in terms of scenery, the park is like a young cousin to popular Big Basin Redwoods Park, filled with second-growth redwoods, more ferns than you can shake a stick at, and banana slugs and newts by the dozen. And just like Big Basin, Nisene Marks even boasts a couple of winsome waterfalls."I'm thinking we could meet there between 10:30 and 11. The hike would be 7 to 10 miles, depending on how feisty we feel. I can organize a carpool from the city (e-mail me directly), and I'm hoping others will organize carpools from other parts of the bay area. Hopefully we can get a nice group of people to go, it should be a beautiful hike! Here are directions to the park:From Sana Cruz, drive south on Hwy 1 for six miles to the Aptos exit. Bear left at the exit, then turn right on Soquel Drive and drive .5 mile. Turn left on Aptos Creek Rd. Stop at the park entrance kiosk, then coninue up he road to Porter picnic area. We'll plan on meeting there. A $2 day use fee is charged per vehicle, and dogs are not allowed. Please RSVP to me if you think you'll make it. You may also want to send ot a post to the group if you can organize a carpool, so that others needing rides can contact you. I hope to see you guys there!
