Guest guest
Hello everyone, First things first, please be aware that the messages on this list often find their ways into unusual places. An email I posted a couple weeks ago wound up in the inbox of at least one intolerant person who almost destroyed this event. This is an excellent resource and we should praise Tammy and Chris for hooking us all together, but everyone should remember that what happens in BAV, unlike Vegas, does not stay in BAV. Never doubt that the animal rights movement is constantly being watched. This is not a conspiracy theory, only a caution that a lot of people spend a lot of energy ensuring that animals continue to suffer, and that we remain silent. We will not. So... Due to some, um, " unpleasantness " regarding the original panel, the Stanford event for tomorrow (technically today) has been reformatted and re-casted. Your presence is all the more important, given the current climate surrounding animal rights at Stanford. Please note the new schedule: FRIDAY MAY 27 12:30 pm Room 200-034 (Lane History Building) Panel Discussion: " Exploring Animal Rights: Ethics and Strategy " Dr. Elliot M. Katz, Founder and President of In Defense of Animals Christine Garcia, Animal Rights Attorney Rabbi Mychal Copeland, Stanford Hillel Aaron Frank, President of the California Wildlife Center 2:00 pm Room 200-219 Screening of " The Witness " (more info available at www.tribeofheart.com) The changes: -The panel is no longer on vivisection, it is now on ethics and activism. It also features some different speakers, all electrifying. -The smaller lectures have been cancelled, though the lecturers have joined the big panel. - " The Witness " will be screened at 2:00 rather than 3:00. -No food. :-( This is going to be a terrific event with some great speakers! I hope to see you there! For directions, type " Lane History " in the " building " field of this page: http://campus-map.stanford.edu/campus_map/index.jsp This will show you where the building is on campus. It should also give you the building's street address which you can find directions to through MapQuest.com. For parking, you could pay to park at Tressider Union, also on the map above. Otherwise parking on campus can be a bit difficult. For animal liberation, Matthew *Everything I say and have said is my voice and not necessarily that of ARF.*
