You mean superset. Being a former discrete math TA I couldn't let that one slip by. :-) DG
Guest guest
Hi Dave I disagree. It all depends on which angle you come at this from. IMHO the superset is vegan as ALL vegetarians shouldn't have a problem eating vegan food (excluding alergies and preferences), and therefore they are in the set vegan when dining, but most vegans would not fall in the set vegetarian. Just the same as we're all raw when eating an apple - even a meat eater Take care Chris Bay Area Vegetarians - Home of the Ultimate Guide www.bayareaveg.org > & gt;Vegetarian food is a subset of vegan food, so any restaurant > labelled as & gt;vegan or vegan-friendly will have options for > vegetarians... > > You mean superset. & nbsp; > Being a former discrete math TA I couldn't let that one slip by. :-) > > DG

IMHO the >superset is vegan as ALL vegetarians shouldn't have a problem eating vegan Correct. Let's define the set X = people who happily eat vegan food items and Y = people who happily eat vegetarian food items. For any person p, p is in Y implies p is in X, thus Y is a subset of X. Now, Taking the sets X = foods that vegans are willing to eat and Y = foods that vegetarians are willing to eat, clearly X is a subset of Y since for any food f, f is in X implies f is in Y. Wonder if we can find an example of Russell's paradox that applies to veganism? DG
