Guest guest
Hi All, I presented a speech last night to a number of senior portfolio managers of a major Bay Area investment advisory firm on the subject of graphical display of complex data, which seemed to go well. Let's see if I get the project... The event was held at Oliveto restaurant near rockridge bart. When I sat down in our private room and looked at the menu I was dismayed... the list of 'choose one' main courses were all meat. Then a good thing happened. When the waittress came around to take everyone's order, I asked if she could recommend any vegetarian entrees. She said, certainly, no problem, I'll have the chef cook up something special for you. she also asked (completely unprompted) whether I'd prefer no dairy. In due time my dinner arrived, a very yummy mixture of diverse beans and wilted spinach and asparagus, in a piquent sauce with numerous mushrooms of a rare and expensive variety. This was underlayed with polenta chunks. I didn't need to make a fuss, just good service. So the moral of this story is (1) even high class places are getting a vegan message and (2) Oliveto is a place that can do vegan stuff if desired.
