Hi folks!

Yesterday was another great Vegan Food Party! Many thanks to Meg, our hostess and newest "VIP" for making this event possible. We are indebted to our "Veggie Important People" who make these VFPs happen.

It was your typical VFP... an abundance of vegan food (was anyone able to try everything?), great conversation and, as always, the opportunity to build community and renew and establish friendships. That's what these community events are all about, an opportunity to socialize, share ideas and vegan food. Because what we eat can sometimes isolate us from others, it's always very satisfyiing to gather new & old friends together to share a vegan meal .. it becomes a big vegan food party! It was satisfying to see this concept resonate with people who were attending for the first time And, it was also a Very Fun Party -- that is also a hallmark of VFPs.

I was amazed by the number of people that attended, and the number of people that were new to me (the majority of the folks, I think!). There were folks that were new to our community as well as new to the area. And we also had special guests, a vacationing family from Canada chose our party as one of their vacation destinations. Yes, our VFP ranked right up there with the Asian Art Museum and the Golden Gate Bridge! WOW!

I was also very heartened by the number of folks that talked to me about organizing events. I always encourage people to organize the type of event that they'd like to see happen, and if you'd like to host it on behalf of BAV or work with us to have us sponsor your event, please contact us.

Recipes! Recipes! Please send me your recipes for the dish you brought. It will go on our VFP recipes page, for all to see, enjoy, and recreate at home. I have already posted the recipes for the dishes that Chris and I made, along with the recipes collected from our April Alvarado Park VFP. (I am happy so many of you liked my most recent contributions; I have been experimenting with more recipes that do not use oil.)

Please continue to send me recipes and comments for any of the VFPs -- we archive all the recipes and you can use the Google search box on our site (lower, left-hand corner) to search the BAV website.

It was, as always, so much fun to see new & old faces. Please mark the date of our next VFP on your calendar -- 6/19 in Pacifica -- hosted by Tracy & her veg family. Thanks to everyone for sharing and being an active part of our veg community.

Cheers,Tammy Bay Area Vegetarians
