Guest guest
The hike to Alamere Falls is beautiful, and swimming in Bass Lake a chilly treat, but, BE WARNED: Poison Oak lurks about. If you are susceptible, here's some advice: 1) " Leaves of three, let it be. " That's the easiest way to remember what to look for since Poison Oak's color changes year-round. 2) Department of Forestry uses Rhuligel to treat it, but I've never found it anyplace, mostly because... 3) I use Tech-Nu, available widely. They even have a " shield " you can apply before potential exposure. That said, it is one of the most beautiful hikes around. http://www.life-assist.com/plantguide.html has pictures of Poison Oak and good information. And it appears the Shield, actually called Armor, has been discontinued. Have fun and maybe I'll see you there...
