Guest guest
Below are Bay Area Districts and each representing Senator and postal address. Please find your district & Senator and send a note today! Help your Bay Area friends and family write their notes today too. Let our Senators know their constituents support this bill. SB1520 will ban the force feeding of ducks and geese and the sale of force fed foie gras in California in 2012. BACKGROUND SB1520 passed out of the Senate Business and Professions Committee on April 26 with a 4-3 vote. There were 900 letters in opposition and 700 in favor. Soon the bill goes to the Senate Floor for debate, then the Assembly and then the Governor – We Hope!! ACTION It is important to write individual letters now to our Senators to thank and urge them to support SB 1520. Individuals should write to the Senator that represents them to let him/her know their constituents support the bill (since constituents are the ones responsible for electing or not electing Senators). Remind them that the force feeding of ducks and geese is just another form of animal cruelty that should be banned in California. REMEMBER Your letter as a constituent holds a lot of weight. Per PETA's letter-writing website: " According to former Congressperson Billy Evan (D-Ga.), " Legislators estimate that 10 letters from constituents represent the concerns of 10,000 citizens. Anybody who will take the time to write is voicing the fears and desires of thousands more. " If you are faxing a letter, please be sure to sign it. Any letter you send must include your name and address. Senate District 03 encompasses all of Marin County and portions of Sonoma and San Francisco Counties.
