Guest guest
A new vegetarian restaurant has appeared in Berkeley, north of the university campus on Euclid. Stars Veggie Restaurant opened 3 weeks ago, and reportedly has the same owners as Golden Era on O'Farrell in SF. I had a couple of vegan crepes, prepared by the chef, Quoc. They were delicious. There were about 10 " meal " crepes, and about 5 dessert crepes. As with the rest of the Berkeley scene - the prices were great and the food was delicious. They're at 1805 Euclid, on the right hand side as you walk away from campus. Phone: 510-548-8895. I expect I'll become a frequent visitor. Two other Berkeley places, in case you're planning a visit, are Flacos and Cha-Ya. Flacos is at the Saturday Farmer's Market and has terrific Mexican food. Cha-Ya is still an amazing and tiny Japanese restaurant, and is my favorite Bay area restaurant. Bon apetite! David Ps. Around the Berkeley campus, I saw ads for Stars which offer a 10% discount. And of course don't forget Long Life Veggie House which while not vegan (they do have seafood) does have very good vegetarian lunch plates (egg roll, soup, and a mountain of food over brown rice) for the amazing price of $3.95 -- Bet Stars can't beat that, tee hee. And no it isn't the dainty serving of entree with a mountain of rice that so many restaurants have gone to serving recently. I always take my groups there for lunch before NorCal concerts and such. Guest guest
Where is Flacos, please? Did a google search and only found a post about how they are at the Farmer's Market - but couldn't find the actual restaurant location, phone number or address. Thanks! We're going to Cha-Ya for dinner tonight - yumm! Went there on Saturday, but they had just closed. I didn't realize that they close at 2pm and re-open for dinner at 5:00pm on Wednesdays-Sundays. We were too hungry to wait 'till 5, but are going back tonight (they are not open for lunch on Mondays or Tuesdays, only from 5-9:30pm). I wish they had a website with this information. We made the drive from SF just to eat there and although we called to get the location around 1:30pm, they didn't mention that they were going to be closed soon. They also do not have their hours on their menu. Kasie > >Two other Berkeley places, in case you're planning a visit, are Flacos > >and Cha-Ya...
