Guest guest
Dear Animal Vigilers, Lovers & Liberators: Sorry about the short notice re the forwarded message, but protesters are needed - especially for Marine World this Saturday (I understand car-pooling is available). Bob O'BrienNote: forwarded message attached. Mail - More reliable, more storage, less spam ** Any questions on the following leaflettings please call 650.654.9955 ** Thank you. WHEN: This Saturday, March 21 from 11a to 2p WHAT: PLEASE Come Demo/Leaflet at Six Flags Marine World ** HELP Get Solitary Orca Sent Back to Her Family In France ** WHERE: Six Flags Marine World, Vallejo (leaflet @ entrance on the property) WHY: By March 25, Six Flags will transfer to Vallejo a lone orca, named Shouka, and four dolphins from the Ohio Six Flags park. Shouka was born in France and was taken from her family and brought to Six Flags in Ohio to live alone for over a year. Six Flags plans to continue Shouka's sad story - by bringing her to Vallejo. While Shouka cannot be released to the wild (because she was born in captivity) we are urging/pressuring Six Flags to send Shouka back to her family in France. Orcas are known to be highly social and have very tight family bonds. It is cruel and inhumane to keep Shouka in solitary confinement and away from her family. Shouka was the first ever orca imported into the United States into a solitary situation. Six Flags is especially financially vulnerable right now. Recent reports highlight the company's financial problems and they have announced closure of the Ohio facility (they are transferring Shouka and four dolphins from this facility). It is reported the company has $2.3 BILLION in debt. THE TIME IS RIGHT TO PRESSURE SIX FLAGS. LET'S START BY GETTING SHOUKA BACK TO FRANCE. ***************************************** WHEN: This Sunday, March 21 from Noon to 2p WHAT: Please Come To Leaflet at the Zoo to Get Elephants To Sanctuary WHERE: SF Zoo (Sloat Avenue) at the front entrance in the parking area WHY: There are three elephants (Tinkerbelle, Maybelle and Lulu) remaining at the Zoo -- all in bad health caused by life in captivity. These elephants must be transferred to a sanctuary immediately to avoid having the same sad and painful fate as Calle (the Asian elephant recently killed due to critical healthproblems). PLEASE COME OUT TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE CONDITIONS OF THE ELEPHANTS AND GET THE ZOO TO DO THE BEST FOR THESE ELEPHANTS - SEND THEM TO A SANCTUARY. Thank you!
