Guest guest
Hi everyone, I wanted to let you all know about a new program I've started in San Francisco called The Empathy Project: www.empathyproject.org. I give free classroom presentations (thus far just to kids, but potentially for college students/adults too) around the Bay Area to build empathy, compassion, and respect for people, animals, and the environment. My current programs deal predominantly with building a foundation of understanding and compassion for others and then encouraging students to consider the impact our various behaviors (from what clothes we buy to what food we eat) have on others. A list of the programs I currently offer can be viewed on www.empathyproject.org. All programs are fun, interactive, and designed to encourage critical thinking and empathy in a nonjudgmental manner. All programs are flexible based on time and designed to be age-appropriate. If any of you are students, teachers or parents or involved in youth or community organizations where you think I might be able to speak, or if you'd like more information about The Empathy Project, please let me know. Earth Day is approaching next month, so I hope that will help me line up some programs. In addition, if you have a color printer and/or would be willing to put my brochures around the Bay Area (in pet stores, animal shelters, health foods stores, vegetarian restaurants, community centers, libraries, etc.), please let me know and I'd be happy to send you copies of them or a PDF that you can print and copy yourself. One last thing: please note that this email address (nora) will be my primary new email address (for non-IDA-related items). Thanks so much!
