Veggie Important People (VIP)

Thank you to our volunteer organizers (Bob, Sean, Lori, & Jordan) for a month of wonderful dinner events, filled with good food, conversation, and community. Bob reports that his Oakland dinners regularly draw a crowd of 18-24 people, with many regulars. Sean’s inaugural monthly Palo Alto dinner at Bay Leaf is off to a good start, attracting a lot of interest from both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian community. Lori also reported the same for her dinners that she organized.

For our SF Shangri-La dinners, when folks were asked what they liked best about the event, the comments reflected our purpose for having these events, such as:

"Plenty of good food. Quantity + quality!"

"Meeting & talking w/new people over great food."

"Getting a variety of yummy foods!"

So, for those seeking to connect with the local veg community, I would encourage you to attend one of our monthly dinners:

SF: Two dinners now! 2nd Wednesday - Golden Era (Dave G.), Last Thursday - Shangri-La (Tammy & Chris)

Oakland: 3rd Sunday - New World (Bob)

Palo Alto: 2nd Tuesday - Bay Leaf (Sean)

It'd be great to see some new volunteers step-up to host Vegan Food Parties (aka potlucks). These are lots of fun.. what can be more enjoyable than having people show up at your house with lots of yummy vegan food?? See what previous hosts have said: http://www.bayareaveg.org/vip.php

HELP US BRING OUR MESSAGE OF COMPASSION & GOOD HEALTH TO ONE OF THE LARGEST BAY AREA COMMUNITY EVENTS, SF PRIDE. Although 2003 was our first time at SF Pride, this was one of the best outreach events we've ever done in many years of tabling at vegetarian, Earth Day, and other community events. This is a wonderful opportunity to reach a large audience with progressive views. Additionally (and most importantly) many are non-vegetarians. Tabling supports the two primary goals of Bay Area Vegetarians: (1) connect the veg and animal rights community (2) promote activities & events which encourage and educate the community on the benefits of a plant-based diet.

We need your financial support – help us raise the banner for vegetarianism at Pride!

Celebrate Great American Meat-Out with a Meat-Eater!

March 20th is the annual Great American Meat-Out, the opportunity to tell our friends, family, co-workers and community about the wonderful reasons to meat-out for a day! We hope you will join us for one of our meat-out events: lunch time and weekend leafleting events in San Francisco on March 17th & 20th, and a dinner/video screening of the wonderful film, “The Emotional World of Farm Animals”, produced by Animal Place, on April 1st.
