Guest guest
reminder, it will reopen at their new location on March 8: Community Market in Santa Rosa. Read previous post for the address or do a google search There's also a Govinda's buffet in Denver CO, their dinner buffet is ALSO $8 per person. What a deal! below is a review by Natalie HI... I live in SR and have enjoyed the buffet at Govinda's for a few months. Alvin's (aka Agni's) split pea daahl is wonderful and totally vegan. He makes this everyday along with another soup. The salad bar is great, with all organics I think, and homemade salad dressings that are so much better than processed dressing from a bottle. He always serves brown rice, homemade bread, and usually a lovely cornbread that is wholesome and filling. He offer steamed veggies: carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli and usually has two other hot dishes, one a curry, the other usually something like lasagna ( not vegan). For dessert, he makes a halva and also offers chai with vanilla soymilk available. You can probably tell that I have eaten here many times, and this is true, as I love the options, the prices, and the energy. I have become friend's with Agni and feel that he prepares and serves food with love and generosity, which makes such a difference! Speaking with him a few weeks ago, I believe that he won't be planning on weekend hours when the rest. reopens. Presently, he is not open on Sunday, and this is his only day off. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to you and the list. A few things to add: there are a variety of pricing options depending on if you just want salad, soup/salad, entire bar, and one or endless trips. They don't make things a la carte so the buffet is the only option, though I think everyone could find something they would like. I consider it less Indian cuisine and more healthy, tasty, simplistic fare that is good for the body and soul. I hope this helps!
