Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who called & wrote regarding SB233. We know we had short notice, but we appreciate those groups and individuals who acted quickly to make sure their voice was heard for the animals! This morning Senator Hollingsworth pulled SB233. This means that SB233 is dead this session. However, as I understand things, there does remain the possibility that a new bill with a similar mission could be introduced. We will keep everyone posted if this does occur. As of yesterday the only two Senators who opposed the bill were:Senator Sheila Kuehl (Los Angeles area) Senator Byron Sher (Represents Stanford area) Senators who had no position as of yesterday:Senator Deborah Ortiz (Represents Sacramento area) Senator Tom Torlakson (Represents Antioch area)Senator Dede Alpert (Represents San Diego area) Senator Debra Bowen (Represents Redondo Beach area) Senators who voted in favor of the bill the last session: Senator Jeff Denham (District covers some of the Central Valley)Senator Thomas "Rico" Oller (Represents areas such as: Lassen, Plumas, Butte, Sierra, Yuba, Nevada, Placer counties) Senator Dennis Hollingsworth (author of the bill) (Represents Riverside area) We feel it is important that people be aware of where their Senators are standing on animal issues. Thank you again for all of your work on helping to defeat this bill that was being pushed strongly by the fur industry.
