January 13, 2003

*

*AB 1312 by Assemblyman Rudy Bermudez* * amended 1/12/04 Trapping

Oppose

*Exempts ³pest control operators² from the provisions of SB 1645, passed

last year, which requires a Fish and Game license for anyone (predator

and ³nuisance² control trappers) who traps animals such as raccoons,

skunks, possums, and bats for profit. *Next Hearing*: Assembly Water,

Parks and Wildlife Committee on January 15.

Tell the legislators that pest control operators should operate under

the same requirements as any other trapper concerning humane trapping

methods, release, or killing. This is an attempt to circumvent the

normal legislative process by amending an unrelated 2003 bill on ³public

works² to a trapping bill without public notice.

This bill must be passed by the full Assembly by the end of January. We

are asking you to do two things.
