Guest guest
Hello fellow veg friends, I hope your new year is off to a good start (if not, then it's even more important that you read this announcement You are cordially invited to participate in the first Vegan Food Party (VFP) of 2004. For those who have been to past gatherings, you know how much fun we've had sharing recipes and acting as test subjects for new culinary trials. The event host also usually organize some kind of fun group activity for all to socialize. So, Yin-Yin and I are inviting you to come to our Sunnyvale home for our first VFP event. We haven't had the chance to try out new dishes in a while, so this gives us an incentive to do so. In addition to the potluck, we will put together a slideshow to showcase some of our outdoor trips from the past year. Here are some important notes about our event: 1. We have two cats: one short-hair black Siamese mix (Monty) and one big, long-haired orange Tabby (Pigby). Despite our efforts at cleaning the house and running the air purifier, people who are extremely allergic may still have reactions, so please beware. 2. We have found it difficult to heat a not-so-well-insulated house comfortably all the time, so, even though we'll have our fireplace burning, it would be wise to bring a sweater or light jacket along just in case. 3. The party starts at 2pm and the munching commences around 2:30pm. At around 4:30pm we will start the slideshow, which will go on for about 1 1/2 hours. 4. While we like to meet as many people as possible, especially new faces, it would be a challenge to host more than 20 people, so please RSVP if you'd like to come. Send your RSVP with the # of people that will come and, if you have an idea, what type of dish you are planning to bring, to: " erhhung " . I will respond promptly confirming your attendance and, in a week or so, I will send everyone directions to our home. At that time folks can start making carpool arrangements. Here are the standard VFP guidelines that I have taken from previous announcements: 1. We will provide beverages and snack foods, so you should concentrate on the entrees or desserts. You are especially encouraged to bring homemade dishes, but, in any case, the dish must be vegan and be generously portioned for 6 or more servings--if you come as 2 people, you can double the amount of a single dish. Be creative and adventurous in your cooking --it's perfectly fine if you are trying out a recipe for the first time--but do take pride and care in your contribution. 2. We will provide plates, cups, and utensils if you forget, but you are encouraged to bring your own dining and serving wares. Besides, if you want to take anything back home, it will be a lot easier to have a Tupperware container handy. Please be eco-friendly and avoid bringing disposables. 3. Please bring an autographed recipe of your dish, listing the ingredients at a minimum. This is primarily for people who may have certain food allergies.
