Vegan Meetup Venues and Agenda Items

Howdy all,

I don't believe I've seen anything on this list yet about the local vegan

MeetUps going on or how many are even aware of this concept. MeetUp.com is this

phenomenon that got popular with the presidential candidates this year, and it's

an Internet tool for folks to meet new people interested in the same issues as

they, or same hobbies, lifestyles, whatever (categories are listed on

MeetUp.com).

 

I was recently made aware by the MeetUp folks that there's a Bay Area Vegan

MeetUp and the only one I know of so far is in San Francisco. If more people are

aware of this and are interested in partaking, perhaps they will grow and others

will spring up in outlying areas like Alameda Co, Contra Costa, Marin, etc. It's

another way for people to research (through MeetUp.com in this instance), and

look up the category: vegans or vegetarians, sign up as a member (it doesn't

cost anything except to those who nonimate/arrange the MeetUp at a local pub,

library, restaurant, etc). If people do arrange a MeetUp (preferably a few

people who arrange--nominate--a few venues to meet up), others who have signed

on as members then get a notice from MeetUp.com to vote where they want to meet

up. If enough people vote, that venue becomes the official vegan MeetUp place.

 

There's one coming up on Jan 3 at noon in SF (see below). If interested, sign up

on MeetUp.com and maybe we can get lots of MeetUps and introduce new folks to

the local veggie scene all around the Bay Area who used this avenue rather than

possibly knowing about the local veg method. If veg restaurants are

nominated as venues, they win, too, cuz undoubtedly folks will order food!

 

(I have no commercial interest in this concept. Just thought I'd spread the word

for a new avenue of meet and greets.)
