Guest guest
Hi veg friends, We don't make it down to Mtn View very often, but when Lori said she was hosting a BAV dinner at a vegan restaurant, and the food was Thai & yummy, well, it seemed worth the trip. At Saturdays BAV dinner, we were at one of the two group tables. We shared, family-style, eight dishes and a special dessert: Yellow Curry, Beauty Lotus, Lemon Grass Soybean, Coconut Milk Soup, Sizzling Tofu with Peanut Sauce, Roast duck in Mushroom sauce, Spicy mushrooms, Mango Tofu cashew, and sticky rice with mango. The last two dishes were special dishes not on the regular menu. All the dishes were well-seasoned and delicious and overall enjoyed by everyone. We ordered the dishes 'mild' and found the seasonings/spicy-ness just right. The sticky rice with mango (served as a dessert) seemed like an odd dessert offering, but it was very delicious (it was jasmine rice with a coconut sauce on top of the rice with fresh mango on the side) Oddly enough, the two dishes that we did not like as much as the others (roast duck and spicy mushrooms) would have been good dishes at other restaurants. It was just at this dinner, when in the company of 6 other outstanding dishes, well, some dishes had to be rank last for others to rank tops :-) An overall favorite was the lemon grass soybean. The second table ordered different dishes, and they reported their dishes were spicier. They also really liked the roast duck. The restaurant has very nice decor, is bright and clean, and has a pleasant ambience & atmosphere. They have table cloths and cloth napkins. And for the brown rice fans: Amarin Thai serves brown or white rice! Note there are two Amarin Thai restaurants almost next door to each other. The smaller all vegan one is to the right of the main restaurant :-) So, to recap, good food, reasonable price ($15.50 tax/tip included for 8 courses + dessert), good company & conversation, AND an all vegan restaurant. (Whenever possible, our dining dollar go to vegan/mostly vegan restaurants.) Cheers, Chris & Tammy Get the veg vote out!!
