Tonight (Friday Dec 12), I had my last dinner and ate my last

blueberry almond jewel cookie from the Organic Cafe...

 

At the counter, there were some flyers announcing the planned opening

of the new restaurant at the same location. The new name of the

place will be " Manzanita, " and the restaurant owner is the landlord's

wife.

 

 

 

Here are the words from the announcement:

is the name of the new restaurant (*) that will open at this same

address, 1050 - 40th Street, Oakland, on Wednesday, January 7, 2004.

Our bill of fare will include macrobiotic and vegan cuisine. We hope

that we'll be able to give you more choices, more comfort, more

atmosphere!

 

* - The Manzanita has no business connection with the

predecessor " Organic Cafe " , even though many of the workers from the

now-defunct Organic Cafe are going to help us with the new

restaurant. Masha French, the new owner of Manzanita, ded buy much of

the equipment, stock, and furnishings from the old Organic Cafe, but

she did not buy either the name, the reputation, the good will, or

any part of the business entity known as the " Organic Cafe " .
