Guest guest
i know you stated that this thread should more aptly be relegated to one of the discussion forums, Tammy, but i thought this might be a possibility others on the list might want to read about, as generally things aren't always as binary as we believe: i have two feline companions, a rather sedentary 15 year old and a 2 1/2 year old explorer. Elisabeth, the 15 year old, seems to have no active interest in the outdoors. Cookie, the younger of the two, does. so, once a day, she and i go for a walk together, connected via one of those leashes that extends out quite a number of feet and a harness that she wears. as the leash is a long one, Cookie has free range and directs where we go, and so doesn't seem to feel controlled (she climbs trees, explores bushes, etc.). but, this way i also get the security of knowing she is getting to explore more thoroughly in a safer way that doesn't entail harm coming to her or harm inflicted by her onto other beings. just another potentiality for those of you who have been similarly ambivalent about the ethics of indoor vs. outdoor feline companions. hope every day brings insight and happiness, amanda ===== " The animals of the world exist for their own reasons.
