Guest guest
Erhhung, The solution to the problem is very simple: Close or effectively barricade the cat door completely at dusk and then re-open it only after it is light outside in the morning. Of course, the best solution for your cats and wildlife would be to close the door completely, and keep the cats indoors. Also, make sure you don't leave any food or garbage outside. Your raccoon will move on and find more appropriate, natural food (hopefully) - or will find another man-made " feeding station " someplace else. You're literally baiting the raccoon into your house by leaving the door open and food out. Cats should be kept indoors at night at a minimum anyway - after dark is when most serious cat fights, hit-by-cars and other preventable, common tragedies happen to cats. It would be better for your cats if they were kept indoors at night, and would eliminate the raccoon visits as well. Best, Kasie
