San Jose cat needs foster care

Greetings list,

My name is Daria, I'm a vegan AR activist. I moved from WA state recently and

due to lethargy have not socialized so much within the local AR communities, and

regret it though I could not help it before b/c I am in urgent need of a foster

home for a wonderful animal. I wonder if anyone on this list belongs to a

rescue group that could assist me?

Here's the story:

I work at a veterinary clinic in San Jose, one evening before closing time

someone came in with a cat and decided to go through with an examination. The

cat's back legs were paralyzed, it had not eaten for days, the prognosis was not

good. The temporary gaurdian of this cat had tried to get assistance elsewhere

but they only offered euthanization. Somewhere I had heard about the SPCA in SF

and told him that I would be willing to take the cat there since I was told that

they do provide medical care to animals instead of euthanizing them right off

the bat. I was wrong and the cat had no alternative except for my genuine

interest in it's well being and belief that an animal should be given the chance

to rehabilitate vs getting euthanized due to lack of funds. So I had the cat

surrendered to me. The estimate to repair the damage the cat suffered was 2-3

thousand dollars, I didn't care, I had hope for it and faith in it and wanted to

give it the shot it was rightly owed.

So, the cat has been in the hospital for about 2 weeks now. It has regained use

of it's bowels, although it needs a urinary cathiter for it's bladder most of

the time, and has also regained use of it's legs. However I had to have the

tail surgically removed b/c it was completely paralyzed. I will gladly pay off

what's owed, which is about 1000 dollars at present, but I need some assistance

in the future with housing for this fellow since I live in an apartment and am

in search of housing for him, at least foster, perhaps w/ a rescue org that can

help me with a medical payment plan for future care or be able to get reduced

care somewhere.

If anyone can help me, please call me either at work 408.453.2524

or on my cell 408.476.9323 My name is Daria. I hope to hear from someone.

Referrals are welcome!

Very Truly,

Daria

Re: Taco Bell beans vegan or not?

Good question...

Both DelTaco and TacoBell beans are vegan (don't have cheese put ON the

burrito). In other states, you may find TacoTime. They also claim to

have vegan beans.

My foot work... I just called 800-Taco-Bell. Ask to have cheese off of

the burrito. They do use oil (not lard) so they aren't perfect

McDougall. Beans are 2.5 fat, 370mg sodium. Go to their web site for

more details. They don't list ingredients, so beware. I'd skip flour

tortillas just out of concern of all the " additives " they use to keep

them fresh.

If you live by a HighTech Burrito... they have whole beans that are

vegan, corn tortillas, and water sautéed veggies. Better healthier

choice.

I'll call TacoTime and DellTaco when they open to grill them on the

vegan Qs... until then... beans R us!
