Dear Animal Companions, Advocates, Vigilers, Lovers & Liberators:

The Vigil-Protests at UCSF continue into an unprecedented 8th consecutive month

this year. Next protest will be November 21 (Friday) at 11:30 am at UCSF (513

Parnassus Av, S.F.). Hope you can make it!

Re National Primate Liberation Week (last Oct 25 to Nov 2), there were about a

dozen animal activists - including members from People for the Ethical Treatment

of Animals; Dr. Elliot Katz and Doll Stanley, of In Defense of Animals (IDA);

Viriginia Handley, of the Fund for Animals; and the tried and true activists of

Vigil for Animals, et al. - at UCSF on Oct. 28, when we leafleted w/

anti-vivisection literature and displayed various signs re animals abused in

experiments and a banner that read " UCSF Vivisection: Tax Dollars for Animal

Torture " (supplied by IDA)....Alfredo (die-hard animal activist and member of

South Bay IDA) brought his van depicting the realities of vivisection on sides

and back.... Alfredo drove his van back & forth in front of UCSF, causing

concern to UCSF personnel (who reportedly took down his license plate)....Vigil

for Animals distributed its first-ever newsletter, highlighting this year's

violations of the Animal Welfare Act by UCSF....I took pictures of the

protest....and we had 7 press packets to give to the media - but, I am sorry to

say, no media - shame on them. That's all folks!

Many thanks to all who participated!!!

Bob O'Brien (for the Vigil)
