On the 'how vegetarian is it' theme of Taco Bell.... here in the Bay Area we

are very fortunate to have so many vegetarian restaurants to choose from.

Yet it's not like that everywhere else (as many folks who have lived or

visited other cities will tell us), or has been previously discussed on this

list, as Jack so correctly stated.

I think it is great that 'fast food' restaurants have vegetarian and vegan

options. While they may not be the choice for most of us who are already

committed vegetarians and vegans, or because we have already eaten at any of

the great vegetarian restaurants here in the Bay Area, the fact is that

those fast food vegetarian options are *still* a valid and convenient veg

choice. And I think it's great that fast food restaurants have those

options available for vegetarians, or folks who want a vegetarian meal.

While there are flaws with fast food and the corporations behind fast food,

the undeniable fact remains that eating vegetarian food at a fast food

restaurant is still better than someone eating meat at a fast food

restaurant. (Better for the animals, better for the environment, better for

human health, etc)

Now, for the rest of y'all who do dine out, but not at fast food joints, I

want to encourage you to cast your votes for the best in Bay Area Vegetarian

Dining in our vegetarian restaurant contest. Unlike most contests where

vegetarian and vegan restaurants have only 1 category to compete in, we have

got several categories.

So let's get the vote out for vegetarianism!

AND we've got some great prizes for voters, thanks to the Compassionate

Cooks, North American Vegetarian Society, VegDining and Wild Bryde Jewelry.

Cheers,

Tammy
