Guest guest
Dear Editor, Ms Saunders uses a paint gun when a watercolor brush would suffice. I haven¹t yet read her indictments of all doctors as thieves when a few cheat Medicare. Nor have I read any vitriolic articles denouncing all CIA agents when Aldrich Ames sells secrets that kill another agent. Yet those concerned with animal rights are branded ³radicals² and ³nuts². If Debra did some journalistic research she would learn that most animal rights activists are against this type of aberrant behavior, but like Jayson Blair of the New York Times, that proves to difficult for her. If one radical making bombs trying to implement compassion taints all compassionate thinkers, then it stands to reason using her paint gun that one lazy, immoral, unthinking journalist makes all journalists lazy and unthinking. Maybe not all, but definitely Debra. She dismissed Gandhi¹s quote because the charter added ³non-human² in front of ³animals.² Here are some others: ³A thinking man feels compelled to approach life with the same reverence he has for his own.² Albert Schweitzer. ³It is totally unconscionable to subject defenseless animals to mutilation and death, ŠIt¹s cruel, it¹s brutal, it¹s inhumane, and most people don¹t want it.² Abigail ³Dear Abby² Van Buren. ³Killing animals for sport, for pleasure, for adventures, and for hides and furs is a phenomenon which is at once disgusting and distressing. There is no justification for indulging in such acts of brutality.² The Dali Lama. ³Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.² That wadical wascal Albert Einstein. ³The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites, or women created for men. Yes, I¹m sorry Alice Walker, you too, according to Debra, are a radical nut. Respectfully, Bill Minikel
