Guest guest
Not that long ago I attended an event in San Francisco hosted by ARDAC, which was advertised as an evening of speeches by Rod Coronado and a representative of the Animal Liberation Front from the United Kingdom. I was shocked when the speakers taught the audience how to make bombs and supported bombings in the UK by ALF members. Whether or not ARDAC has anything to do with the recent bombings at Chiron and Shaklee by so-called animal rights activists, ARDAC, by its own choice and conduct, has made itself a pro-terror organization instead of an animal rights organization. Let's not kid ourselves about the danger to our movement of such extremists. Just as the government seriously set-back the anti-Viet Nam war movement in the early 1970's by infiltrating the movement and turning it to violence, (Project Cointelpro), so ARDAC, by its tactics, threatens to seriously harm our movement's ability to gain support and, by slowing our movement down, cause the prolonged suffering of animals that many of us have worked for so long to stop. The choice is clear. Either you are for animal rights or you are for terror. We can't win the hearts and minds of our countrymen and women by tolerating the actions of the violent few in our midst. Terrorists and their supporters must understand that they will receive no comfort, support, aid or friendship from those of us who are truly committed to animal rights, not thug-like tactics. The recent bombings at Shaklee and Chiron accompanied by threats to make each future bombing twice as lethal, should remind us of the magnitude of violence of which a small group of extremists is capable and the ability of that violence to smear our entire movement. If you truly believe in animal liberation, I respectfully urge you to deny any and all support to ARDAC until the organization swears off violence as a tactic once and for all. - cannotdivideus sfBAVeg Monday, October 06, 2003 1:05 PM [sfBAVeg] Vegan Cafe Night - Saturday!
