Guest guest
Fellow Veg*ns, First of all, I'd like to thank everyone in this group for their generous offers when I asked for video donations for a new student veg group I'm starting with my american high school students here in Japan. I've had a little snafu, however, in that my school administration has put the kibosh on my group. They say I cannot start a veg interest group: the legal risk is too high because I am not a registered dietician. (Apparently they consulted the school district lawyers.) I don't want to give up -- I've mentioned this to my students (some of which are vegetarian) and they are still very interested in joining such a group. I've talked to the administration about re-concepting the group into something broader, including animal, human and environmental rights/sustainability issues. They seemed a little more comfortable with that idea. I'm still a bit hazy on what to propose as the name of the group, however. It needs to make a catchy acronym that will generate student interest. I haven't come up with any really good ones, so I was hoping those of you with a creative naming talent could help me out. If it helps, the name of my high school is Kubasaki HS. As a side note, my principals will be more likely to allow the group the more innocuous it seems -- hence using " awareness " in the title rather than " rights. " Here's what I have so far: CAHRE (Concerned Students for Animal, Human Rights and the Environment) SHEAA (Students for Human, Environment and Animal Awareness) These suck, I realize. Please help! Thanks in advance, Andrea Kowalski Kubasaki HS teacher Okinawa, Japan
