Where: New Ganges Restaurant, 775 Frederick St., SanFrancisco, @ the corner of

Arguello and Lincoln.When: Sunday September 7, 2003 at 6PMWhat: Indian vegan

meal with appetizers, entrees, riceand bread for $18, if at least 10 persons

attend. Therestaurant is relatively small, so party size will belimited.

Attention will be paid to diners' wishes asto mild, medium, or hot--if group's

desires are splitin that regard, so will the plates.The new owner of this all

vegetarian restaurant (hehas no connection to prior ownership/management

ofGanges of the past in the same location) is veryvegan-friendly and

accommodating, and wants tointroduce himself and his restaurant to the

vegcommunity. He stresses that all food is fresh,nothing frozen, will take back

any dish that does notmeet the diner's satisfaction. I have had twoexcellent

meals there so far. The interior ispleasant, nothing fancy, though cloth

napkins are standard, and service is excellent.If you like walking as I do, one

can walk

fromEmbarcadero BART in an hour and half. However, plentyof other options are

available, including an easy rideon the N Judah, getting off at UCSF Med

Center,walking down 2nd Ave. a few short blocks to Lincoln,turning right and

going another couple of blocks toFrederick near Arguello and Lincoln.RSVP's
