Animal Advocates, Lovers, Liberators --

Regular UCSF demonstrations continue into their fifth month this year - this is

a feat that's never been accomplished before to my knowledge. We should be

proud of that! Let's keep it up! The next protest/leafleting at UCSF will be a

Tuesday, August 12 at noon - yes, that's TUESDAY, AUGUST 12 - to be followed

later in the month by another protest/leafleting at noon on Sunday, August 24 -

that's SUNDAY, AUGUST 24. Please be there - and speak up for the animals!

Imagine being in a head-restraint device for several hours a day, five or six

days a week, deprived of fluids or food to make you behave as the researchers

require - and thus you can imagine being a monkey employed as as a subject (or

victim) in a UCSF research project. Anyhow, hope to see you at one (if not

both) of the upcoming Vigil actions.

******* S.F. ANIMAL CONTROL & WELFARE COMMISSION MEETS AUGUST 14 *******

THURSDAY, CITY HALL, ROOM 408, 5:30 PM

The commission continues to discuss issues re animal care (ie, lack thereof) at

UCSF. To keep abreast of the commission's progress (or lack thereof) re UCSF

oversight or to express your concerns re UCSF's abuse of animals or any other

animal-related topics to the commission, you are advised to attend. Prepare to

be frustrated to some extent, however (smile!). I still wonder whether

attending these meetings is worth it, but I have not given up hope; thus likely

I will attend.
