Guest guest
Hi all, A great little book that we have used at recent tabling events is VIVA's " Vegan Basics: The Complete Guide for New and Aspiring Vegans " . I've found this a useful reference for folks who want to be vegan but not sure what brands of foods they can buy now or just want to know what is out there and vegan. When we sponsored Dr. Greger's presentation at City College, these were a big hit with the students. If you've ever seen it, you know why -- nearly 50 pages of why veganism good for you, good for the animals, good for the environment, good for the planet's people.... pages on nutrition.. and then the best part, " So what do you eat? " That is the majority of the booklet with vegan brands for typically dairy products, " meaty " products, canned or dry convenience foods, etc. and at the back is the " Boo-Hiss Glossary " defining albumen, anchovy, angora, aspic, etc. Also included are recipes and other food related information. This is pretty substantial reference item that is great to give to new or aspiring vegans. So I wanted to share information with you from VIVA on their current fundraising efforts to get more of these vegan guides printed and out to people... .... Vegan Basics Fund Drive Viva! has been trying to meet the grant of $2,000 that we received for PETA to assist us with another printing of our popular guide, Vegan Basics: http://www.vivausa.org/veganbasics/index.html. So far we have raised $400. Again, this little booklet has been reviewed favorably in the Detroit Press, NewsDay in Long Island, and the Milwaukee Sentinel. People everywhere want copies, and we are almost out. To donate click and indicate it is for Vegan Basics: http://www.vivausa.org/donate/index.html To contact VIVA: info .... My gosh.. under the " Vegan by Accident " category for cookies, they've got 5 flavors from Safeway listed...
