Guest guest
Left for Dead: A report from the frontline on efforts to save the animals of Baghdad's war-torn zoo Join us for a captivating and informative evening as San Francisco resident and WildAid field agent, Stephan Bognar, shares his recent adventures in Baghdad while working to rehabilitate the Baghdad Zoo and its occupants. For WildAid's Stephan Bognar the answer was easy – rent a truck, drive to Baghdad and buy raw meat, a whole lot of meat. Dispatched to Baghdad after news stories aired showing emaciated animals abandoned in their cages, Bognar spent two months providing primary care, maintenance and training for the animals and workers of the zoo and leading undercover sting operations to reclaim many of its lost and stolen animals while witnessing the war experience first-hand.
