PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND FORWARD THIS EMAIL!

Please join us at a screening of a very special documentary film called " The

Witness. " It is a story of compassion, of transformation, of being a voice for

the oppressed, of human and non-human relationships, and of one person's power

to make a difference. If you haven't seen it, you'll want to make a point to

come. If you've seen it already, it's worth seeing it again -- and bringing a

friend along!

About THE WITNESS: In the award-winning documentary The Witness, Eddie Lama

explains how he feared and avoided animals for most of his life, until the love

of a kitten opened his heart, inspiring him to rescue abandoned animals, become

a vegetarian, and ultimately, to bring his message of compassion to the streets

of New York. With humor and sincerity, Eddie tells the story of his remarkable

change in consciousness, sharing along the way some of the realities of the

animal abuse in our society.

FROM Yale Wishnik, Ph.D of the California Teachers Association: " THE WITNESS

provides a catalyst for emphasizing the importance of relationships and the

value of all life -- human and non-human animal alike. Classrooms everywhere, in

and outside the schoolhouse, need to pay close attention to the message

presented by Eddie Lama. His wisdom is simple, yet poignant, as he shows that

nothing is more powerful than an act with a purpose and no lesson is more

important than one filled with compassion.

Hi Colleen

Where will The Witness be playing on Aug 3rd? I'd love to see it.

Hi everyone,

I just got an entire package from Tribe of Heart (producers/creators of The

Witness) -- handbills, flyers, and posters! I want to get these out to the

public to increase the number of people who will see this amazing film, and I

need some help! I'm going out of town for 5 days, returning less than a week

before the actual event and don't want to miss the opportunity to distribute

these materials.

Are there folks out there who would be willing to help distribute these

items?? Coffee houses, health food stores, vegetarian restaurants, libraries --

are all great places for these announcements.

If you are willing and able, the wonderful Cathleen Young has volunteered to

meet people at Golden Lotus in Oakland at 6:30 on Thursday to give you the

materials to distribute. (You don't have to have dinner, but you're welcome

to!!) :)

For those who absolutely cannot make it, I could mail you some flyers, but

I'd love to keep costs low. And for those who can meet Cathleen, if you could

just give me a heads up (colleen) so she doesn't wait there all by

herself for nothing, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks to all of you who responded to my need for volunteers on August 3rd

-- the screening of The Witness/fundraiser for the Oakland Animal Shelter.

Whether you can volunteer or not, I do hope to see a lot of you there!

For the animals,

Colleen
