Guest guest Posted August 5, 2004 Report Share Posted August 5, 2004 Greetings from the Gourmet Gril:) As we have all heard, the unfortunate rumor of the sudden ending to Roxannes restaurant is ture. Despite the many theories we all might have, or gossip that spreads like a fatal plaugue, the most important thing everyone can do is continue to support the movement and especially the tremendous efforts of Roxanne Klien. We all might have " heard " things about the ownership behind the restaurant, and being a devoted front of the house team member for nearly 2 years, its important that I make everyone aware that the intention behind this venture was nothing more than to bring foward the many possibilities behind living foods to the community at an un- compromising standard, and to give back to organizations that supported sustaining our world. Roxannes received press from Sweden, to France to Japan and swept the nation from New York to mid-America and the west coast. I was truly a revolution in Living foods. Her face and name touched the lives of people that would never otherwise have been exposed to such a concept. It was the mecca of " gourmet living foods " and every raw foodist and health seeker from far and near came to experience the " hype " and left proclaiming the tremendous impact of their experience and how it far exceeded all their expectations. Yes, Roxannes was expensive, but it was a 4 star fine dining restaurant, anyone who has had the opportunity to dine knows of the effort that was put into every course and the service that moved with the meal. Perhaps there was more we could have done to cater to a larger more community based cliental, but the standards had been set, and with a truly devoted kitchen staff of prime culinary graduates and health seekers, the quality and presentation of the cuisine was something they just could not compromise with. It may be hard for some of us to understand, but really Roxannes was a vehicle, transporting this concept the people who would never have agreed to try this " type " of cuisine without being offered a fine-dining experience. We have to think of the hundreds and hundreds of people that got to try it, just once, and will take that experience with them forever. It is now time for us to learn from Roxanne Klein's truly genius efforts and help carry out the legacy. I know for me that it is part of my mission on earth to build and serve the health community and movement, but it is also important to acknowledge that some of us just want to eat incredible food, no matter what it is! Please take a moment to be thankful for this great feat, and honor Roxanne for her devotion and presence in the community. We all must do our part in keeping the movement " alive " this means supporting everyone, even if they have a different approach, we are all in this together. Roxannes to-go WILL remain open, please support the beautiful team there as they will be working twice as hard to continue to bring this cuisine to the community. Thank you for listening.
