Hello Nora,

I posted a question about camping to another . I

received one reply, which I've copied below. I'll keep searching for

more options, have a great day!

Re: Camping around Hillsboro?

Mike,

If you are looking to stay in an actual developed campground, there

are only two I know of in close vacinity of Hillsboro, where I live.

The first is a small area in the east fairgrounds parking lot that

is wired for electricity. I don't know whether it has water or

not. I'd estimate there are about 25 sites, all in a row, no tree's

or cover.

There's not much privacy as the fairgrounds are directly behind the

area, and Cornell Road is due north which has a fair amount of

traffic on it. Also I've noticed at most events most, if not all of

the sites, are taken by trailers, etc...

I had a friend park his trailer there once while in the area and

can't quite remember the fee to camp, maybe $10-15/night or so.

There is also a bathroom down on the south end by the office, which

may have showers but again I can't remember.

As for other nearby campgrounds, the only other close one I know of

is the Gales Creek Campground, located just off the Wilson River

Highway (Hwy 8), 20 miles west of Forest Grove.

Lots of locals use this one and although I've driven through, we've

never stayed there. Way too busy for my tastes. I much prefer to

find a road into any State or Federal forest and camp there

somewhere. It's legal as long as you aren't on private land. We

like our forests " green " out here, vs. burned so if you choose this

option please try to camp softly and be careful with fire. :o)

Good luck!

Thanks very much, Mike. I've actually found someone to put me up. Are you

going?
