Guest guest
In reference to Nora's remarks about pesticides, they can do more than just give the body one more toxin to eliminate. There have been studies linking the use of certain pesticides to lower sperm counts in men. I saw a documentary about it several years ago put together by women. I looked on the web this morning and found the site http://environment.about.com/cs/pesticides/a/spermcount.htm " Low Sperm Count tied to Agricultural Chems " . The " cides " are much more of a concern to babies and children who are developing than to adults, who eat less in comparison to body weight; unless, of course, you are a farm worker and exposed more directly to them. As far as my experience with organic and " conventional " fruit, sometimes the organic does not taste good or no flavor, and I don't even buy " conventional " fruit unless it is ripe. Most of the time, though, the best tasting fruit has been grown organically. I favor getting the various berries, because they are usually picked only when ripe. I think the flavor issue is mainly due to the condition of the soil and the mineral content. Regarding irradiation, it is regulated by the FDA. You can take a look at the regulations by clicking on a link at the bottom of the page of http://www.food-irradiation.com/RegUSA.htm . The taste/flavor issue is true also with water. When I don't have my purified water with me and drink tap water, sometimes it is good, other times it has a bad taste. I always drink as little as necessary when drinking tap water because it is to one degree or another contaminated. Ron Koenig
