Good evening,

Has anyone on the RawSeattle list attended CHI personally? I am considering

recommending the place to a friend for detox, nutrition, fitness and raw food

education. Any recommendation of the 1-wk vs 2-wk class? The location is

fairly close from where I now live.

Another place that is nearby is Tanglewood in Bethesda, MD. Any experience as

to how they compare?

Thanks, love and happy Fathers' Day!

Hi Nick,

I've never attended either, but I can tell you that they are based on

radically different philosophies. Sick people do get better at CHI but the

credit is mistakenly given to the 'healing powers' of certain foods like wheat

grass juice and sprouted or fermented

foods. I would imagine it's much like any other health retreat in that the

visitors are fed 'healthy foods', given lots of opportunities to exercise,

sunbathe, etc. Tanglewood, on the other hand, is strictly a fasting clinic. If

your friend is sick, fasting is the

best and quickest way to get well but it's not always necessary. S/he would

most likely get better at either place because s/he'll be removing the cause of

his/her disease. Tanglewood is cheaper if that's a consideration, and the

principles they teach are simpler and

more sustainable, imo. The key is that s/he learn better eating and living

habits, which takes a lot longer than a week or two, of course. But if s/he

wants a good starting point, Tanglewood gets my vote.
