Guest guest
>I ask that we allow others to fully and respectfully express themselves >even if they use a literary technique that does not appeal to you. We do allow those extremes of expressionfound in recent posts (the " diatribe " and reply), just as we allow Nick's request and the above (my recent post too!) Thanks for reminding us of different perspectives on speech, etc.! It may not appeal to me, but it does remind me of other's perceptions. Guest guest
Just a follow up and clarification. This list was actually set up to be a forum for people to feel at home sharing their ideas and experiences with/about a raw vegan diet. It was meant to be a friendly place where people can feel comfortable sharing ideas and questions. It was meant as a list for all ages; a family-friendly list. While some posts may seem extreme to us, it does not call for extreme posts in the other direction. Two " wrongs " don't make a right. As Bruce points out, people do use language differently. Instead of being quick to judge others, let's try to understand each other. Let's ask for further clarification regarding posts we don't understand and try not to post in " re-act " . I don't feel making fun of people (in a spiteful way) will help this list or help the individuals on it, even if it is in reaction to a post. I don't feel a " negative " (my perception) post is necessarily " appropriate " . It is simply a choice. I would just like us to make the best choices for this digital community, as we are all sharing this forum together. I do realize, with the help of Bruce's post, that a post that seems condescending and spiteful to me, may not have that intention from the poster. I also realize that a post from me offered with the best of intentions may not be taken that way. This is certainly not offered as censorship. We all make choices. I am just using my right to express myself to invite people to be patient with each other and think twice before sending posts. We can say things in many ways, so let us consider our options. This list has members with a wealth of knowledge, as well as a lot of people looking for knowledge (I'm sure most of us have both), so this list affords a great opportunity to share that knowledge. The words we choose can have the effect of turning off hearts and ears, or turning them on. I suggest we encourage an atmosphere conducive to learning. Now, on the bright side, I am very grateful to have a list that has run very smoothly compared to others. Issues that have arisen have been quite minor. There are far worse things than a little satire or sarcasm. Thank you to all our members for keeping this a fun place to chat. I offer the above more as a prevention than criticism.
