Good morning,

The Seattle area dealer I am familiar with is

a.. 206/547-4621, Electric Vehicles Northwest, 110 N 36th, Seattle, WA 98103,

http://www.ebikesnw.com

The proprietor is Eric Sundin, a friend of mine since about 1991 where I met him

at an alternative transportation fair. I would like to add something to my

earlier message about mass transportation. Even though private autos are

currently used without restraint, leading to the sprawl and wreckless

roadbuilding we're all familiar with - I do recognize that they have a place.

If the only thing you can do is buy a non-polluting vehicle then do it. You'll

see health effects on yourself like you did with the raw food diet - eg.

increased mental clarity, improvement in all your senses (esp. hearing and

smell). When I drove an electric car for the first time I remember being

astonished at how well I could hear and smell things around me. When I rolled

to a stop at a traffic light I could hear pebbles crunching under the tires, and

smell the plants from a nearby nursery. Gas engine exhaust and noise deaden

your senses to these things.

If you can use a bicycle, but are looking for all-weather capability see the new

generation of velomobiles at: http://www.velomobiel.nl/

Most of these are built overseas in Netherlands, Germany and Holland but they

will ship to American buyers. A company is setting up in the US to build some

models under license (http://www.pedalyourselfhealthy.org/)

Contact me off-list if you are interested in more info.

Another alternative would be to buy an electric motorcycle. There is

a company right here in Bellevue that sells an electric bike that can

travel up to 60 mph and go 60 miles on a charge (or 100 miles with an

auxiliary power pack). That would cover any round trip of 30 to 50

miles, which is quite a distance. I would buy one tomorrow if I had

the money and wasn't making payments on the car I have. Check out:

http://motorcyclecity.com/electric-hybrid/esarati.htm

http://www.esarati.com/motorbikes.htm or

http://www.electric-bikes.com/motorcys.htm

With some predicting gas prices to go to $3 a gallon, this would save

a LOT of money for those who drive a lot of short distances, plus put

out zero emissions and reduce our nation's need for petroleum.
