Hey everyone!

Could any of you recommend some shops in the International district (and

their locations possibly) that carry good quality fruit?

Thanks!

Do you mean good quality as organic only? If so, I know of no organic carrying

asian market. If they can be non-organic, just walk into any in the asian

district and you will be satisfied.

Hi Shawna,

Kevin's right, conventionally grown is the rule in Chinatown. Hau Hau has

the most variety and best prices, but the lowest quality durian (if that's what

you're looking for). The best

places for durian are Viet Wah (on the main drag through Chinatown, the one

running east-west) and Lam's Seafood Market (take a left at Hau Hau and it's

about 1/2 block down). Young coconuts

can be had just as cheaply at Central Market, if it saves you any driving.

Central has durians too but at double the price ($8-11 each). If you're trying

durian for the first time it might be

a good idea to get one at Central, though, because they've been pretty reliable

in my experience.

Thank you both for the suggestions...I figured that I wouldn't be

finding any organic exotic fruits in Chinatown. This is exactly what I

was looking for, Nora.
